The Most Controversial Issue

The Most Controversial IssueDo you believe in the so-called 'war on terror'? If you do, then perhaps this may interest you. The world today has become a dangerous place, and we need to look at what makes the most controversial issue today to be a viable solution to all of our nation's security issues. For decades now, the United States has waged wars against people that were perceived to be evil or violent, such as the 'War on Drugs' in Latin America. Even though the violence is already higher in most countries in the world than it was twenty years ago, the war on drugs has been detrimental to many countries. It is illegal, it is costly, and it does not produce the desired results, and it has led to a generation that does not respect the law, and feels that there is no point to being there.Studies have shown that the higher the crime rate, the more soldiers are sent to fight. Even if it is only a small part of a nation's population, it costs millions of dollars to support the war. Not only does this cost money, but also lives. Many times, civilians and military personnel have died on the battlefield because of a misunderstanding of how and where to fight, and it is up to the leaders to make the right decisions.Another example of this kind of issue is when people go to war because people oppose their religious beliefs. All people everywhere can agree that this type of thing should be allowed by the government, but it is the same citizens who don't support the government that feel they should be allowed to kill people for their beliefs. What might be more controversial is if someone would start a war because of the 'benefits' of the war, or what the effects might be. What if the benefits are actually worth the cost, or will give us more benefits than the war itself? Would it not be better to eliminate that war altogether, and save the thousands of people killed, while possibly a couple million might suffer in other ways?Would the world be a better place if every co untry gave up their war on each other and started a war against a different group, rather than seeing everyone in the world on the wrong side of the war? Perhaps the most controversial issue of all would be with the rising number of people that are following violent people on the internet, and joining groups that try to send others off to war because they are too dangerous.Even though it might seem very far fetched, it could be possible that these people could be leading more people into danger, and the number of children being hurt might rise. The global problem of terrorism would probably not disappear, but it might be possible to solve the problem before it gets out of hand.Perhaps the most controversial issue would be that of video games, and violent movies. In today's world, it seems that almost anything that can be done online can be done illegally, and some countries feel that they should have more control of this. Maybe the debate on video games would be a good starting poin t, as video games have been proven to help improve some peoples lives, and they can help the military as well.
